Toe Bean Tarot
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
This policy describes how Toe Bean Tarot ("we", "us") handles information on the toebeantarot.com website and in the Toe Bean Tarot mobile app for Android and iOS. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to support@ToeBeanTarot.com.
Summary
The app does not require an account, shows no ads, and contains no third-party analytics or tracking. Your readings and journal stay on your device unless you use an AI feature, which sends only what is needed to answer your request. The optional Daily Pulse shares only the id of your daily card, never your identity, and in-app purchases are billed by the app stores so we never see your payment details. The website collects an email address if you choose to join our mailing list and uses advertising cookies (the Meta Pixel) to measure our ads. We do not sell personal information.
Information We Collect On The Website
Mailing list. If you sign up, we collect the details you enter, such as your email address and first name. Signups are stored by Loops, our email platform, so we can send tarot tips, release updates, and product news, including news about physical card decks. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
Advertising measurement. The website uses the Meta Pixel, a small piece of code from Meta Platforms, Inc. It sets cookies and collects device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser details, the pages you visit, and whether you arrived from one of our ads. We use this to measure ad performance and to reach interested people with future ads. Meta processes this data under its own privacy policy and may associate it with your Meta account. In the future we may add similar measurement tools from Google, such as Google Ads or Google Analytics, and this policy will cover them in the same way.
Technical logs. Our hosting providers process technical data, such as IP addresses and request logs, to deliver and secure the site.
Information The App Handles
Stored on your device. Daily cards, saved readings, journal entries, streaks, achievements, game scores, and settings are stored locally on your device. We cannot see them. They leave your device only if you use an export or share feature, and then they go only where you choose to send them. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes this information.
AI readings. When you ask for an AI interpretation or follow-up, the app sends your question, the cards drawn, spread details, and any notes you typed to our backend server so it can generate a response. Our backend relays the request to OpenAI, which generates the interpretation. Our backend is stateless: it does not store your questions, readings, or responses. OpenAI may retain API data for a limited period for abuse monitoring under its own policy, and does not use our API data to train its models.
Card scanning photos. If you scan a physical spread with your camera, the photo is sent to our backend and relayed to OpenAI to identify the cards. Photos are processed to answer your request and are not stored by us. The camera is used only when you start a scan, and you can revoke camera permission at any time in your device settings. We suggest framing only your cards, since anything else in the photo is sent along with it.
Daily Pulse. The Today tab can show an anonymous worldwide tally of daily cards. When this is enabled, the app sends only the id of the card you drew (no name, account, device identifier, or other personal information), and our backend keeps only the day's aggregate totals. You can turn the "Anonymous daily pulse" toggle off in Settings at any time, and the app stops reporting.
Purchases. The optional "Extra Cat Food" subscription is billed entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never receive your payment card details, billing address, or store account information; the app only learns whether the subscription is active so it can raise your daily AI limits, and it stores that status on your device.
Leaderboards. The Play tab offers optional leaderboards powered by Google Play Games Services. If you sign in to Google Play Games, Google, not us, handles your sign-in, player profile, and display name, and the app submits your game scores to Google so they can appear on the leaderboards. Scores and your Play Games profile are visible to other players according to your Google Play Games settings, and Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. Leaderboards are entirely optional: if you skip or decline sign-in, no scores leave your device and your high scores are kept locally. If leaderboards are offered on iOS, Apple's Game Center will handle them in the same way under Apple's privacy policy.
Deck downloads. If you download an additional deck, the deck files are fetched from our backend and stored on your device. The request involves only standard connection data, as described under technical data below.
Reminders. Daily card reminders are scheduled locally on your device and are not a cloud push service. They are sent only if you grant notification permission, which you can revoke at any time.
What the app does not do. The app has no accounts of its own and collects no names, emails, or contacts; the optional leaderboard sign-in described above is handled by Google Play Games, not by us. It shows no ads and includes no advertising or analytics SDKs. It does not access your location. Rating prompts are handled by Google Play or the App Store under their own policies.
Technical data. When the app contacts our backend for AI features, card scanning, deck downloads, or the Daily Pulse, the server sees standard connection data such as your IP address, which may appear in short-lived service logs and be used for rate limiting to keep the service sustainable.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to provide app features you request, to send emails you signed up for, to measure and improve our advertising, to respond to support requests, and to keep our services secure. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your readings, journal, or photos for advertising.
Service Providers
We share data only with the providers needed to run Toe Bean Tarot: Loops (mailing list), Meta (website ad measurement), Render (backend hosting), OpenAI (AI interpretations and card recognition), Google Play Games Services (optional leaderboards), and our website host. App distribution, payments, and rating prompts are handled by Google Play and the Apple App Store. Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. Our services are operated from the United States, so your information may be processed there.
Data Retention
Mailing list details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you. Our backend does not store AI requests, readings, or photos. Data stored on your device stays under your control and is removed when you delete it or uninstall the app.
Your Choices And Rights
You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any marketing email, or by contacting us. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and manage how Meta uses your ad data in your Meta Ads Preferences or at aboutads.info/choices. You can revoke camera and notification permissions in your device settings at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email support@ToeBeanTarot.com and we will respond as required by law.
Children's Privacy
Toe Bean Tarot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
App traffic to our backend uses encrypted HTTPS connections, our backend keeps no database of user content, and AI provider credentials are stored on the server rather than in the app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit what we collect so there is little to lose.
Changes To This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes, such as adding a new tracking tool or an account system, will be reflected here before they take effect.
